1. Purpose & Definitions

This Policy defines ownership and usage rights for work created during SAAI programs. Key terms include:

  • Assessment Submissions: Code, APIs, strategies, and deliverables submitted for evaluation.
  • Live Projects: Projects assigned by SAAI as institutional or production-oriented work.
  • Student-Owned Capstone Projects: Projects designated as student-owned and built under mentorship.
  • SAAI Materials: Curriculum, proprietary datasets, internal prompts, and tools.

2. Assessment Submissions – License Grant

By submitting any work for assessment, you grant SAAI a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, and royalty-free license to reproduce, modify, and commercially utilize the submission. This includes integrating your work into SAAI products and using it for machine learning training and system improvement.

3. Ownership of Work

  • Live Projects: These remain exclusively owned by SAAI. You may reference your participation in portfolios but may not commercialize or redistribute the project.
  • Student-Owned Capstones: You retain ownership of the final project. SAAI claims no commercial ownership but may showcase the project for promotional purposes unless you opt out.

4. AI-Generated Content & Protectability

SAAI makes no representation regarding the copyright or IP protectability of AI-generated content. Our license applies to your specific selection, coordination, and modification of AI outputs and any original human-authored components.

5. Repository Contributions

Any commits to SAAI-owned repositories are deemed Assessment Submissions and are subject to the license grant in Section 2. You must ensure all contributions comply with applicable open-source licensing obligations.

6. Restrictions on Participants

Participants are strictly prohibited from:

  • Redistributing SAAI curriculum or materials.
  • Reverse-engineering proprietary SAAI systems.
  • Reselling internal frameworks or commercializing proprietary datasets.

7. No Employment or Compensation

Submission of work is educational in nature and does not create an employment relationship, royalty entitlement, or any claim to financial compensation.

8. Survival

The licenses granted under this Policy survive the termination of your enrollment or the conclusion of the program.
